What is exactly a Cavoodle?

The Cavoodle is an amazing breed that is both gentle and devoted.  The conception of this wonderful breed dates back to the 90's but has become ever popular in recent years. Some have said that the Cavoodle is currently the most popular dog in Australia!  The Cavoodle breed has been formed with a combination cross between a purebred Cavalier King Charles & Toy/Miniature Poodle.  The goal was to develop a dog with minimal genetic diseases which are sometimes found in purebred dogs and combine the best features of both the Cavalier King Charles and Poodle breeds.  One of the benefits of such a breeding created healthier, out going affectionate dogs with low to non-shedding coats.

 

Difference between Toy and Miniature

A toy cavoodle will usually grow to between 5-8 kgs as a fully grown adult and is significantly smaller in size compared to a Miniature Cavoodle which grows to approximately 8-15 kgs as a fully grown adult.  

 

Here at Cutest Cavoodles we breed small Toy Cavoodles (usually smaller than average) .  We are able to estimate the dog's size by specific and intentional mating practices.

 

The Cavoodle is a classic "designer" dog and this is reflected in the price.  There are cheaper dogs in the market being described as "Cavoodles" but the buyer must be aware that a lower cost may be reflected in the breeding practices of these dogs or the actual quality of breeding "stock" (i.e. they may not actually be genetically purebred Cavalier King Charles/Toy Poodle parents/parentage).  Or, worse still, they may be bred by unethical breeders that are only interested in profit and not the quality of life for the dogs/puppies they hold.  They may look like a Cavoodle puppy but may grow up to be a very different dog!  Please don't buy from a puppy farm and encourage unethical practices.  Consider where the puppy is from and always find an ethical breeder that can answer questions on parentage and first home environment.  One that you can view/visit would be a major advantage.
